Sar Hyun Kong Moo Soo Kwan Tae Kwon Do first made its New Zealand debut in the early 1980s. During this time it has gone through many positive & progressive changes.

The origin of Sar Hyun is Korean. The history of Sar Hyun Kong comes from Hwa Rang Do. There are three "Sar Hyun" groups.

All like brothers, all from Hwa Rang Do.

This particular style of Tae Kwon Do comes under the umbrella of The World Tae Kwon Do Federation (WTF) Ji Do Kwan, but exists slightly out side its main stream.

Our syllabus includes both traditional Sar Hyun Kong forms and WTF Taegeuk patterns, accompanied by full contact sparring and numerous Flying Eagle Hapkido defense techniques.

To date Sar Hyun Kong has been taught throughout New Zealand. One of our more prominent schools being based in the South Island, Balclutha.

In Balclutha, Chief Instructor Master Robert Wilson taught and graded many Black Belt students and Instructors. Having now retired from teaching, Master Robert Wilson acts as a technical adviser for the Queenstown Tae Kwon Do School, Est. 2000.

Many thanks go out to Robert for all his countless hours of voluntary tuition and dedication to the art of Tae Kwon Do.

Chief Instructor of Queenstown Tae Kwon Do, Brian Fitzgerald accompanied by selected instructors are continuing on the tradition of Sar Hyun Kong, running classes weekly from beginner to Black Belt level.
